Fatigue Management
Driver fatigue is emerging as one of the most important issues currently facing the road transport industry in Australia.
In Western Australia transport operators are required under the OH&S Act to put in place a Fatigue Management System that compiles with the Fatigue Management Code of Practice for Commercial Drivers.
A Fatigue Management System must address a range of workplace conditions such as:
- Scheduling of tips
- Rostering of drivers
- Fitness for duty
- Medical checks
- Training and education
- Allocation of responsibilities
WorkSafe, which is responsible for enforcing the OH&S Act, is currently contacting all transport operators asking them to submit their Fatigue Management System.
Operators who do not have a system in place face severe penalties.
Transport Forum is an approved Fatigue Management consultant and can assist you to develop and implement a fatigue management system customised to your business.
