Safety Education Trailer (SET)
The Safety Education Trailer (SET) is a national educational initiative of the Australian Trucking Industry. Its prime focus is to promote road safety and educate the community about sharing the road with trucks and other heavy vehicles. The SET also aims to enhance the community's awareness of the trucking industry, an industry that touches the lives of all Australians. Not only does it deliver the lifestyle enjoyed by all Australians, it's a major employer and contributor to the nation's economy.
The SET is a semi-trailer consisting of a truck (prime mover) and full size trailer. The trailer opens up for public display and is easily walked through by children of all ages with access for disabled persons. The inside of the trailer consists of various video presentations, static displays, an interactive Intranet computer zone (which invites later Internet educational activity) and a truck based simulation of three common 'Sharing the Road' safety issues.
The SET is designed for people of all ages, however school students from Year 4 through to Year 8 will benefit most from the visit. They enjoy the experience and easily understand the safety messages that are presented.
